The Parliamentary session is over, and I am looking forward to another awesome summer in Northeast Calgary!
I am very excited to host my 6th Annual Community Cleanup tomorrow. If you haven’t yet registered, you can do so here:
I am also hosting a Stampede Breakfast on July 8 in the parking lot of the Baitun Nur Mosque. There will be great food, special guests, and a celebration of what Calgary is all about: diversity, inclusion, and Stampede Spirit!
I hope to see you at both events, and many more times this summer!
To ensure Canada remains at the forefront of research, innovation, and wealth generation, our Liberal Government is investing in the success of our researchers.
The University of Calgary will be using $125 million in funding for their One Child Every Child: A Transformational Child Health Research Initiative.
Our Liberal Government is investing $390 million over five years in programs to help stop gun crime and gang violence before it starts. Since my time as City Councillor, I’ve fought hard for more funding like this.
As Northeast Calgarians, we understand the devastating impacts of a natural disaster as well as anybody. Our Liberal Government has put together some helpful information, guides, and resources to help you be ready.
I encourage you to visit www.getprepared.gc.ca to learn more about the risks specific to our region, create an emergency plan. When emergencies strike, we must always be prepared.
Last December, as the first step to help improve access to dental care, our Liberal Government launched the Canada Dental Benefit.
We are helping eligible families to cover dental care expenses for children under 12 years of age. As of now, the Canada Dental Benefit has helped more than 300,000 children get brighter smiles and healthier teeth.
In November 2022, our Liberal Government brought forward a Drug Shortages Task Force to further improve our ability to prevent and mitigate shortages. We want to hear from you!
Our Liberal Government is building an immigration system geared towards economic growth and meeting labour demands. We recently announced the launch of a category-based selection for Canada’s Express Entry system.
This year, invitations will be primarily focused on candidates with work experience in healthcare, STEM professions, trades, transport, agriculture, and agri-food.
I want to say thank you to everyone who filled out last month’s survey about how the public service strike was affecting you.
I'm pleased that our Liberal Government was able to reach a deal. The deal was both fair to employees and reasonable for taxpayers. Our public service has resumed normal operations.
